What Is a Pipe Belling Machine?

A pipe belling machine is an end-of-line system that heats and shapes the end of a plastic pipe into a socket. This socket allows pipes to be connected securely and helps create standardized, leak-resistant joints.

Pipe belling machines are commonly used for PVC, PP, drainage, sewer and pressure pipes. The machine configuration is selected according to pipe diameter, material type, wall thickness and required socket profile.

The machine heats the pipe end to the required forming temperature, presses it around a calibrated socket mould and then cools the shaped section. These stages are automatically controlled to maintain consistent socket dimensions.

Infrared heating provides uniform heat distribution, faster processing and accurate temperature control. It reduces the risk of uneven softening, surface damage and dimensional variation during socket formation.

Pipe material, diameter range, wall thickness, production speed, socket type and heating method should be evaluated. The machine must also be compatible with the extrusion line capacity and required production standards.
